As the lead analyst for the connected car/infotainment/shared mobility group at General Motors, Manny Lopez does not lack for things to investigate. This serves him well and builds on the 15+ years he spent as a journalist at newspapers across the nation.
But it’s not just digging for the story that is important to him, it’s telling the story, too, and providing actionable insights to the team.
Before joining GM, he worked at a public policy think tank in Michigan, and spent a number of years at The Detroit News, where he served as Automotive Editor, Opinion Page Editor, Editorial Writer, and Reporter. While at The News, he and his teams won local and national awards for their coverage of the auto and health industries.
He also worked in his hometown as Associate Editor of the Kansas City Business Journal, and as the recruiter for the Journalism School at his alma mater, The University of Kansas. He has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from KU, and a master’s degree in economics from the University of Detroit Mercy.
