Akshay Jaising

Akshay Jaising learned to drive in Mumbai, a city with more than 18 million people and some of the worst traffic congestion in the world. Living in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Bangkok provided very little relief when it came to transportation. These experiences are part of what drives Akshay to strive to find a better way for people to get around, especially in big cities.

Today, he is leading General Motors’ Maven operations on the U.S. West Coast as the company ramps up three unique services – Maven City, Maven Home and Maven Gig – in distinct markets.

For Maven City, the company’s public car-share offering, he is responsible for growing the service, eliminating pain points and ensuring a good customer experience. Maven Gig, where people rent vehicles to aid in freelance driving, requires Akshay to manage the full fleet of operations, recruit new members and build partnerships. Within Maven Home, he manages the relationship with closed communities and properties whose residents have exclusive access to Maven vehicles.

In addition to those responsibilities, Akshay strives to gain a deep understanding of the culture, demographics and needs of the west coast markets he manages: Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Phoenix and Denver. He sees an industry ready for disruption and thinks that Maven combined with mobility solutions, such as electric vehicles, will greatly accelerate a solution.

Prior to coming over to Maven, Akshay served as a product manager for both GM infotainment systems and GM mid-sized trucks. He also held the role of Director of Export Sales and South East Asia Distributor Operations at GM Thailand, where he successfully launched Chevrolet in Laos and grew GM Thailand wholesale exports by 133 percent.

Akshay received his Engineering degree from Mumbai University and his MBA from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He is married with two children. He loves photography and cycling, and plans to expand his cycling prowess in the Bay Area.
