Dr. Levi Tillemann has more than a decade of experience in automotive innovation and policy. He currently leads the World Economic Forum’s Circular Car Initiative and is a globally recognized expert on micromobility.
Previously Tillemann was a partner at the consulting group Valence Strategic where he was responsible for vehicle electrification, autonomous vehicles, and micromobility. He was also CEO of IRIS Engines, Inc. and holds numerous patents for the IRIS Engine design. Tillemann served in the Obama administration as an advisor to the Department of Energy and he publishes extensively on innovation and clean mobility. He is the author of The Great Race: The Global Quest for the Car of the Future (Simon and Schuster 2015), was a fellow at the Washington DC-based think tank New America, writes for publications including WIRED and The New Yorker, and is also a regular guest on National Public Radio.
Tillemann holds a BA from Yale, a PhD from Johns Hopkins, and speaks Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, and Portuguese.
